The purpose of our testimony is to provide background on how the conclusions in Georgia Power’s 2007 Integrated Resource Plan regarding its desire to build new baseload nuclear power plants in Georgia potentially threatens ratepayers and the general public. Specifically, our testimony is intended to provide the Georgia Public Service Commission with information on the risks associated with the development of a new nuclear reactor or reactors in Georgia as it pertains to environmental, nuclear waste, and security concerns that have significant potential to negatively impact ratepayers and the general public.
