The Nuclear Road Not Taken

The Nuclear Road Not Taken – by Arjun Makhijani describes how a December 1944 decision foreclosed the possibility of a future without nuclear weapons. That was when it was clear that Germany did not have a viable atomic bomb project. But the US program was accelerated so atomic bombs could be used during World War II. The target, as General Groves noted in April 1945, had “always” been Japan. Germany had been de-targeted in May 1943.
