This report surveys potential multigenerational impacts of exposure to ionizing radiation, focusing largely on teratogenic impacts and early failed pregnancies. It also examines gaps in knowledge and the failure to establish specific standards to protect pregnant members of the public despite early assessments in the 1950s that exposure to fallout from nuclear testing created the risk of major birth defects.
